MySpace news, hacks and customization
This week Myspace have released a number of new updates for Myspace music and have told us about some “coming soon” features too.
Myspace is very well known for its amazing selection of musicians, a lot of musicians now will even choose to have a regularly updated Myspace page over owning their own website. In this post I aim to have a look at why this is.
Despite all the damfangled widgets available today, playing music on your MySpace profile is still one of the best ways of entertaining visitors to your MySpace profile, and helping people understand listening tastes.
Guest blogger Alex Zaharov-Reutt ponders whether MySpace could be the undoing of News Corp.
If you’re a frustrated DJ or just like playing around with music, you are going to love YourSpins.com. This very cool web site allows you to remix music tracks and then share them with the world via your MySpace profile (or blog).
Once you choose a song, an online real-time mixing window appears (see above) that shows the music broken up into parts (for example intro, verse, chorus, break) and each part broken up into channels (for example vocals, backing vocals, strings, bass lines and drum tracks).
The Universal Music Group is set to take on MySpace and You Tube over copyright, alleging that the sites are allowing users to post copyrighted material.
In many ways MySpace’s move into selling music was an obvious move, since it’s a site that has a huge following of both music makers and music lovers.
