Hacking MySpace

This is a template that a friend has created as a foundation for creating a Myspace div layout. His intention was not to create a template that people can use straight off the bat (although you still can) but rather to create something that designers can change the layout by copying and pasting with minor edits to the CSS.

In this post I plan to discuss if it is worth customizing your profile 2.0 with hand-written CSS or if the Myspace editor covers enough to allow you to customize your profile how you like.

Since Myspace seems to have stopped (at least for now) changing their coding structure I thought that an explanation/reference sheet for all the profile 1.0 hide codes would be a great idea - especially for those who actually want to understand the coding behind your profile.

As I said last week I would cover how to put your group members and topics into a div here it is. The benefits to this are that you can then position the topics anywhere you like in a group div layout, they are not just confined to the one place.

With Myspace the greatest customization you can do is called a “Div Layout” or “Div Overlay”, now I will show you how to use this on a group layout to make your group look even better than it already does.

After numerous changes to Myspace’s coding structure since Hacking Myspace was published I thought it was about time to write an updated tutorial on how to create a div layout.

The group Free Divs (mentioned in Hacking Myspace, Chapter 25) has now launched a website.
