MySpace music store

You’ll soon be able to sell your own original music on MySpace, and your fans will be able to sell your music as well.

San Francisco-based company Snocap will provide the technology that will allow musicians on MySpace to sell songs directly to fans. The service is tentatively being called “MyStore”.

Bands will be able to set the price for their music, with MySpace and Snocap taking a cut. Indie band, The Format, is said to be trialing the service.

While the service is designed primarily for independent acts, MySpace is said to be talking to all four major music labels about offering big-name artists.

Given MySpace’s creditability with the music crowd (both artists and listeners), there’s a real opportunity for MySpace to make a big impact. iTunes watch out!
